Not much to say on Civ. This cassette was just part of my early 90ies life-soundtrack. I do remember liking a lot Side A and almost never listening to side B. I especially liked furious songs like Do Something and Trust, Slips Through Your Hands: they said it all in one minute or so and left me wanting for more.
Gorilla Biscuits are a different story: I never liked so much this album, but it always had something that kept me at it. I remember I copied from the original vinyl that my friend Guido lent to me. We we first met him, Guido to us was a kind super-hero: a skater, a snowboarder (which in Italy in 1994 was something still pretty unheard of) a gifted musician and guitar player and in general a smart, funny and vulcanic crazy-type kinda guy. Not very reliable sometimes, but that was just part of it. He could play Seek & Destroy or Got The Time from top to bottom while we were still trying to figure out how to do a palm-mute. To us he was cooler then Joe Cool. And, ladies & gentlemen, this guy started a band with me! I can’t even think about the name Gorilla Biscuits without having in my head his voice pronouncing it all fucked up: “Goureela Bis-kizzz!” I wonder where he is now. I know he’s got two beatiful kids: still being cool I guess.
Note for the non italians: Guido is not a very common name anymore down here and it wasn’t even in 1994. And it has nothing to do with duck-faced orange-tanned idiots!
